About File Cabinet Lite 6.3 for macOS

File Cabinet Lite is the lite version of File Cabinet Pro, the file manager for the macOS menu bar. With File Cabinet Lite you can view files directly from the menu bar. File Cabinet Lite is also a document-based application that ships with a built-in text editor, image viewer, pdf viewer, and media player.

After downloading File Cabinet Lite, you will be able to use all features available in File Cabinet Pro without limitation for 30 days. After 30 days has passed, you can use the app in “Viewer Mode.” You can get all pro features for an unlimited period of time via a single In-App Purchase.

***Pro Features In-App Purchase***
Open, move, rename, compress, tag, trash, copy and paste files, all from the menu bar. You can open many file types natively within the app or open files by launching other applications. It’s easy to click into directories in icon view, drill through directories in list view, or navigate the file tree in column view.

What's New

-Added a “New Folder with Selection” action.

-File Cabinet Lite now accepts certain images types in drag and drop.
-You can now move files by dragging and dropping to the Path Bar at the bottom of the window.
-Other minor bug fixes and improvements.

Version 6.2:
-Added a “Open as New File Cabinet Lite Tab” Service. If you enable this Service you can open directories in new tabs from other applications such as Finder via the Services menu.
-Fixed bug that caused view type to not be restored on app launch even if the “Restore view type” preference is on in Settings.
-Fixed bug that could sometimes cause you not to see your typed text when renaming a file when the app is in dark mode.
-Fixed bug that could cause a tab to suddenly close after renaming or moving a directory at the top level of the navigation stack.
-Other minor bug fixes/improvements.

Version 6.0:
-You can now open directories in New Tabs.

-Removed the “Primary” and “Secondary” directory concept from File Cabinet Lite; this feature has been replaced by the new Tab Bar. You are no longer restricted to two directories to switch between, you can open as many tabs as you want.

-Tabs in File Cabinet Lite’s new Tab Bar support spring-loading; you can drag files over a tab to select one.

-Buttons in the bottom bar to switch between the “Primary” and “Secondary” directory have been removed. You can switch between directories via the Tab Bar instead (or by using the hot keys: Control+Tab to select the next tab and Control+Shift+Tab to select the previous tab).

-File Cabinet Lite now displays the number of selected items and the file count for the current directory in the bottom bar.

-The size of the Quicklook preview for a selected file in Column View will now resize with the window instead of remaining at a small fixed size.

-File Cabinet Lite started displaying a Services submenu in its context menu in version 4.5. As a result if the “Show In Finder” service on your Mac was enabled you would see two “Show In Finder” menu items in File Cabinet Lite’s context menu. File Cabinet Lite no longer displays its own “Show in Finder” menu item in its context menu to fix this problem. You can enable the “Show In Finder” Service in System Preferences on your Mac to continue using this feature.

-A new “Go to Folder…” menu item has been added to File Cabinet Lite’s context menu.
